A work of art that is functional!
Sgraffito is Italian for scratch. The process begins by painting the freshly thrown vase with slip or underglaze. The design is then very carefully and methodically scratched away leaving a brilliant contrast between painted and unpainted areas. Design is created "on the fly" - no two pieces will ever be alike.
Blue underglaze is a pretty sky blue.
